Does the pump remain motionless when running, and if not how much does it move?

Mines seems to oscillate in a circular motion, maybe 1/16" at the back end, or so like the adapter isn't seated on the crank or is defective. But, it is all original with about 600 hours on it and never been apart, until this week.

So, the result is a lot of flexing of the suction hose.

    Motionless, yes.

Something is wrong with the pump shaft or the coupler or the arm that stops the pump from rotating.

It takes the pump actually rotating to cause the damage that occurred.

As also mentioned in the other posts, the pump should really just hum, not move.

If you put your finger on the torque reaction arm, I would describe it as the feeling of a smart phone on vibrate. Buzzy, but not moving.

Most often cause is related to damage in the pump adaptor. New are available for both Onan and Vanguard applications.
