Well my pin kit arrived yesterday....at first I was afraid to open it as it was packaged as though it was platinum or some other precious metal. Then for the product itself.....amazing looking piece. Install went easy as per verbal instructions. Looking forward to taking the old girl for a spin this AM....Thank You Barneveld.
They are a nice addition! The 4118 I am restoring didn't have much slop, the plates were spread very little. This is the 3rd pin I have put in my own tractors, and they sure worked in them. The orginal pin in the 4118 was showing a lot of wear, and with the restoration I just felt it was the thing to do.
I just finished installing this pin kit in my 224 along with 4 new steering links, a gently used steering gear and a 4000 series steering wheel (smaller diameter) and it the tractor steers a lot better. I do still have a very light amount of play which I’m not sure is normal for this type of design front axle.
Has anyone ever made shims to further take up the play?
Hello case 220/4 Would you be able to tighten the lock nut another 1/4 turn? The ones that we installed we thought the same thing but after looking more one, the balljoints were worn, the other one the steering bushing was worn. Just a idea.Thank You,Bill,Barneveld Imp.
