What ever you are willing to give, and he is willing to take! If it has just been sitting for 4-5 years, it couldn't be worth much, unless there is an emotional reason. Such as: That John Deere 4020 tractor was the first new tractor Dad ever bought, and even though he has been gone for 20 years, it isn't leaving while I am alive!

More info needed but blades alone, depending on condition and completeness, run between $100-250.

Sitting ... As in outside and doesn't run?

Depends on how bad you want it and what for.

If its just a naked tractor with a complete blade and with a jump and a bit of fuel, will load itself on the trailer, even with fairly rough cosmetics, its probably worth $350-500.

If it has extras, like a PTO, sleeve hitch or flow control valve etc. each one potentially adds hundreds.

Each person is different. For me, anything that has sat outside, would have to come with compelling reasons to buy it.

Is that picture of the actual tractor? Or is it on the internet because he is trying to sell it? Or is it a picture of one somewhat like it?

    Thanks!

If you can get it for the cost of the blade plus some reasonable tuition, go for it.
