Dundee VERY interesting thought.. I think I have seen control valve stacks where the handles run in slots.. And if you restrict the length of the slot, you can restrict how far the spool moves.
Maybe he can do some experiments, wood would do for a test, but put his valve handles throuhg slots that are short.

It's the first time I've watched your video in operation. Seems like every time you get to the end of the cylinder stroke, engine stalls. I'm I correct in this? So, at minimum, doesn't that indicate a pressure relief problem? That' got to be tiring to use like that.

The inline flow control I posted is to control the Boom drop only and should be mounted on that cylinder. The Pressure compensator flow control https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/s...Of_00&usqp=CAc should mounted ahead of the FEL stack to control the overall speed. The relief valve in the FEL stack should be reduced until the engine no longer stalls.
